2008 Ford ExpeditionSure we all love small cars for their fuel efficiency, but have you ever tried to take a family of six plus pets and luggage on a trip? Oh yeah, now add a boat or some jet skis, a pop-up trailer, or perhaps some dirt bikes…Not going to happen. We still need large SUVs to move around the country, which is why the Expedition makes a great choice for families who need the room, capabilities, and comfort this full-size SUV has to offer.

The Ford Expedition has been a favorite of families for over a decade. Forget that it was the first ever full-size SUV to achieve five-star front crash test ratings from NHTSA for the driver and front-seat passenger. Or that it has received numerous awards from magazines and other companies like J.D. Power and Associates. Or even that it offers first-in-class features like the PowerFold™ third-row seats. The fact that it gets 18 mpg on the highway and has all the awards plus much more is the real story.

The Expedition’s 5.4-liter engine is a dependable V-8 that produces 300 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. This makes towing a max-capacity 9,200-lb trailer simple and effortless. Match that impressive powerplant to the segments only 6-speed transmission, and you have an SUV that can go anywhere and do anything, taking up to 9 people along! By the way, those 9 people are going to be comfortable since the Expedition has more standard features for 2008, as well as a new King Ranch edition that swathes the occupants in rich Chaparral leather seats and luxury wood trim accents.

Choose from the regular or Extended Length version, two-wheel or four-wheel drive. Decide between four trim levels, including XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited and the aforementioned King Ranch, all of which will be comfortable, capable, and fun.
